Journal of Art and Design is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. We adhere to the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Guidelines for Authors
Authors must ensure their work is entirely original. All submissions are screened for plagiarism using professional software.
All listed authors must have made substantial contributions. Gift, guest, or ghost authorship is prohibited.
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their work.
Research involving human or animal subjects must have ethical approval and informed consent.
Authors should present accurate data and avoid fabrication, falsification, or manipulation.
Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals is prohibited.
Guidelines for Reviewers
Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality of all manuscript details.
Reviews must be objective and free from personal criticism or bias.
Reviewers should respond promptly and submit reviews within agreed timeframes.
Reviewers must disclose any conflicts and decline reviews if necessary.
Guidelines for Editors
Editors make decisions based on scientific merit, not commercial interests.
Editors evaluate manuscripts without discrimination based on race, gender, or beliefs.
Editors have a duty to investigate allegations of misconduct and take appropriate action.
Handling Misconduct
Types of Misconduct
- Plagiarism (including self-plagiarism)
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Citation manipulation
- Unauthorized use of material
- Ghostwriting or guest authorship
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest
- Simultaneous submission to multiple journals
Investigation Process
Possible Sanctions
- Rejection of manuscript with explanation
- Publication of correction or retraction
- Ban on future submissions (temporary or permanent)
- Notification to institutional ethics committees
- Reporting to funding agencies or professional bodies
Complaints and Appeals
Authors who wish to appeal an editorial decision or file a complaint should:
- Submit a formal appeal letter to the Editor-in-Chief within 30 days of the decision
- Provide detailed justification for the appeal
- The appeal will be reviewed by an independent editor
- A final decision will be communicated within 30 days
Ethical Policies
AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Use of AI must be disclosed.
Corresponding authors encouraged to register for ORCID iD.
Data availability statements required for all published articles.
We publish corrections for honest errors and retractions for misconduct.
