Acupuncture is an alternative medicine, actually it has had a greater acceptance in our continent being use for multiple therapeutic purposes. Although it is a minimally invasive procedure it is not exempt from complications, most common minor complications such as infections or local pain have been described, as well as less frequently but potentially fatal complications such as subarachnoid hemorrhage and tension pneumothorax. We report a case of pneumothorax secondary to acupuncture in a patient who was treated for carpal tunnel syndrome.

Hyphaema is the presence of blood in the anterior chamber (AC) of the eye and is commonly caused by a blunt ocular trauma. In this case report, we discuss a case of a 29-years-old African man presented to the emergency department with severe right ocular pain and blurry vision following a blunt injury. This is a teaching case report aimed to discuss the management options, potential complications and visual prognosis of this particular case.

The SARS-COV-2 rapid spread caused an international public health emergency with unprecedented rates of morbidity and mortality. Post COVID-19 condition occurs as a spectrum of symptoms that present four or more weeks after acute infection with SARS-CoV-2. Most published data to date state 50-70% of hospitalized patients experienced at least one post-acute COVID-19 symptom up to 3 months after discharge. Commonly reported symptoms include; neurocognitive post COVID-19 (fatigue, dizziness, inattention, and brain fog), respiratory post-COVID (dyspnea, chest pain, and cough), and mental health related symptoms (insomnia, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder). Additionally, gastro-intestinal post COVID-19 (diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain) along with decline in quality of life and decreased ability to perform activities of daily living were reported. The response to post COVID-19 symptoms is still in its infancy despite being an emerging crisis as scientific evidence and robust data are nonetheless required for clear definition, identification of time frame, classification and management of the condition. New studies are needed to identify total and individual incidence/prevalence rates of different clinical presentations of post COVID-19 symptoms. These future studies will help us to o improve early recognition of long term symptoms after acute infection of COVID-19.

Emotional regulation of children and adolescents is a very important process for their development. Emotional self-regulation encouraged the children and adolescents to control aggressive emotional outbursts. This study purpose is to exam the effect of emotional self-regulation on the life quality of children and adolescents with traumatic experiences. A systematic review was conducted to examine research on effect of low emotional self-regulation on the life quality among children and adolescents with traumatic experiences. The initial search generated 1.245 research articles, 170 of which were reviewed for detailed evaluation; ultimately, 11 research articles published in the period 2012-2021 were included. Children and adolescents with traumatic experiences all over the world samples were the most represented in research articles. It used thematic synthesis to combine the research articles of low emotional self-regulation on the life quality among children and adolescents with traumatic experiences and identified key themes to explore in the impact studies. Across 11 articles, regardless of the traumatic type of event, it was found that children and adolescents’ low self-regulation affects their ability to express themselves in a functional and productive way. Negative accumulated emotions, which do not externalize sexually and physically abused children and adolescents with low emotional self-regulation gradually lead to some type of emotional disconnection. In conclusion, sexual, physical abuse and war-refugee situations in childhood are more associated with the onset of post - traumatic stress disorder, emotional disorders and difficulties in self - regulation of emotions.
