Physico-chemical and sensory characterization of bread based on green banana (Musa spp.) flour

The banana (Musa spp.) is a tropical fruit with excellent sensory characteristics in terms of aroma, flavor and texture, consumed worldwide and exploited in most tropical countries. Green banana flour is rich in flavonoids, which protect the gastric mucosa, has a high content of resistant starch, which acts in the body as a dietary fiber and thus has health benefits, and is an alternative option for bakery products, reducing waste of both the peel and the pulp. The aim of this study was to develop bread formulations with partial substitution of wheat flour with green banana flour (FBV), thus increasing the nutritional, technological and sensory value. 4 formulations, (A), standard sample; (B), bread with 10% FBV; (C), bread with 15% FBV and (D), bread with 20% FBV. Physico-chemical quality was assessed in terms of moisture content by drying at 105ºC, ash by incineration, fat by the Soxhlet method, protein by the biuret method, carbohydrates by difference calculation and calorific value by sum calculation and sensory analysis by affective methods. The data was evaluated using the RStudio 4.2.1 DCC statistical package. There were no significant differences in moisture content, lipids and calorific value. Differences were evident in the ash and protein content. Sensory acceptance of the standard formulation was 82.22%. The results obtained show that green banana flour can be used as a partial substitute for wheat flour to produce breads with functional properties.

The last three decades have witnessed in Europe an increasing interest from institutions, and creative communities in independent research connected to crafting, DIY, maker culture, and design activism. A new generation of designers has focused on the experimentation of processes, materials, and technologies used as a vehicle for socio-political and environmental messages and as the starting point of solid narrative projects. This paper aims to analyse this phenomenon inside the niche of Collectible Design, a field in recent years of great interest by galleries and institutions for its ability to embrace material and technological research as well as craftsmanship and art. We investigate the phenomenon, through a series of interviews with designers such as Shahar Livne, Eugenia Morpurgo, Pleun van Dijk, Tellurico, and Standard 404, selected for their ability to use experimental materials and technologies, as communicative media for reflections on systemic issues.

This study addresses the critical challenge of material scarcity within Ghana’s creative industries by pioneering the synthesis of professional-grade stage blood from indigenous, locally-sourced materials. In the context of Ghanaian theatre and film, practitioners face significant barriers due to the high cost and limited availability of imported special effects products, often resulting in the use of inadequate substitutes that compromise aesthetic realism, safety, and narrative authenticity. This paper responds by exploring the potential of cassava starch, tapioca, kenkey dough, and fufu wax. Grounded in Schumacher’s theory of Appropriate Technology, the paper reframes indigenous resources not as inferior alternatives but as technologically and contextually appropriate solutions that align with Ghana’s economic, environmental, and social realities. The study provides detailed, reproducible recipes for both flowing and clotted blood variants, validated through practical application in simulated special effects such as gunshot wounds and deep-tissue scars. These formulations meet key performance criteria: visual fidelity under theatrical and cinematic conditions, controlled viscosity, ease of application and removal, and performer safety. Beyond technical innovation, this research contributes to shifting academic and professional discourse from dependency and scarcity toward resourcefulness, sustainability, and artistic self-reliance. It offers a practical framework for reducing production costs, enhancing the quality of visual storytelling, and fostering local value chains within Ghana’s growing creative economy.

This review explores the role of listening as a foundational component of communication and compassionate care in palliative settings. Drawing from ten scholarly articles published in 2025, the study examines how listening affects the experiences of patients, families, and healthcare providers. The findings emphasize that listening is not only a professional skill but a human act that reduces suffering, promotes dignity, and strengthens trust, especially where resources or standardized protocols are lacking. The review is organized into four main areas: the importance of listening in clinical decision making; its role in emotional support and team communication; its contribution to preserving patient dignity and comfort; and its impact on family involvement and closure. The study calls for future research to develop standardized tools for measuring listening in palliative care and to explore how cultural, economic, and technological contexts shape listening practices. Ultimately, the review concludes that listening must be at the heart of ethical, patient-centered care during the final stages of life.

Smallholder farmers play a pivotal role in global food security; however, they remain exceptionally vulnerable to the impacts of climate change due to their reliance on natural resources and limited adaptive capacities. This narrative review synthesizes a wide range of global sources to explore the intersection of smallholder agriculture and climate adaptation strategies. The review examines adaptation practices, agroecological methods, and the adoption of climate-resilient crop varieties. It reveals that the implementation of these strategies is frequently hindered by systemic barriers such as financial constraints, limited technological access, and institutional inefficiencies. Recognizing that previous studies have addressed isolated aspects of adaptation or relied on secondary data, this review highlights research gaps and offers a comprehensive synthesis of relevant literature. This review uses a narrative synthesis model suitable for integrating evidence from agronomy, economics, and social science to capture the complex challenges faced by smallholder farmers. The review emphasizes the importance of policy frameworks and participatory approaches that empower smallholder communities. This review synthesizes current evidence to inform potential directions for targeted interventions and future field-based studies, while recognizing the limitations of relying on secondary data. These recommendations aim to facilitate integrated policy reforms and drive research initiatives, ultimately strengthening the resilience and adaptability of smallholder agriculture in the face of ongoing climate change.

Complexity Leadership Theory (CLT) is a new and revolutionary concept in addressing healthcare crises worldwide. Its relevance and applications were tested during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, no definite and encompassing research was done to apply it to nursing leadership. Thus, this study examines CLT integration into nursing leadership to address the challenges posed by the pandemic. Through a systematic review of literature from PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, relevant studies were analyzed to determine how complexity leadership theory was defined, conceptualized, and operationalized within nursing leadership context. The findings reveal that traditional hierarchical leadership models are insufficient in a dynamic crisis environment like the pandemic. Instead, CLT’s framework which encompasses adaptive, administrative, and enabling leadership facilitates innovation, resilience, and effective interprofessional collaboration. Nurse leaders employing these strategies are better positioned to manage resources limitation, foster shared decision-making, and implement technological advancements in rapidly changing healthcare settings. Overall, this study underscores the potential of complexity leadership theory to transform nursing leadership practices by promoting continuous learning and empowerment, thereby enhancing crisis response and preparedness for future pandemics.

Objective: This integrative review aims to critically examine the clinical management of periprosthetic joint infections (PJI) in total hip arthroplasty (THA), emphasizing decision-making strategies, diagnostic advancements, and therapeutic innovations. The study focuses on the complexity of infection control, microbial resistance, and individualized treatment planning. Methods: A systematic review of the literature was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, targeting studies published between 2015 and 2025. Articles were selected based on their contribution to understanding the clinical, microbiological, and surgical aspects of PJI in THA. Fifty-five studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed descriptively. Results: PJI in THA is influenced by multifactorial risk profiles, including obesity, diabetes, and immunosuppression. Staphylococcus aureus, particularly MRSA, remains the most frequently isolated pathogen, followed by Gram-negative organisms and fungal species. Diagnostic innovations such as next-generation sequencing have enhanced pathogen detection, while two-stage revision remains the gold standard for chronic infections. Emerging strategies—such as antimicrobial coatings, tailored antibiotic protocols, and multidisciplinary care models—demonstrate promise in improving clinical outcomes. Conclusion: Managing PJI in THA necessitates a comprehensive and individualized approach, integrating early and accurate diagnosis, pathogen-specific treatment, and advanced preventive measures. The integration of emerging technologies and personalized care pathways is critical to optimizing outcomes and reducing the clinical and economic burden of PJI.

The processes of technical and technological development are unequivocally linked to increasing energy consumption, with a significant portion of energy being produced from fossil fuels worldwide. The reserves of natural energy sources such as petroleum, gas, coal, and turf are finite. The transition to renewable energy sources has been ongoing for a long time, but share in global energy consumption remains lower than desired. The main limitations include limited availability, inability to operate continuously throughout the year, high costs, and a lack of materials and devices capable of withstanding high temperatures and pressures. The goal of our research is to create a device that generates electricity using a new type of renewable energy source based on the thermal expansion and contraction of materials. This paper presents the construction, details, and working principles of the new device. The primary focus is on utilizing materials and components that are readily available. The proposed method has own advantages, addresses some of the aforementioned limitations, and can be particularly beneficial for providing electrical energy in remote areas. Calculations indicate that the device built using this new method will be competitive with appliances that utilize other renewable energy sources in terms of features and efficiency.

The pharmaceutical supply chain has become increasingly complex and vulnerable to various risks, including counterfeit drugs, diversion, and fraud. As these challenges threaten patient safety and the integrity of global healthcare systems, serialization has emerged as a pivotal innovation in pharmaceutical logistics and regulatory compliance. Serialization involves assigning unique identifiers to individual drug packages, enabling precise tracking and authentication at every stage of the supply chain. This process provides unprecedented transparency, enhances product security, and facilitates real-time monitoring of pharmaceutical products as they move from manufacturers to end consumers. Despite its potential to revolutionize pharmaceutical traceability, the integration of serialization technologies faces numerous obstacles. These include high implementation costs, regulatory inconsistencies across regions, and the technological challenges of managing vast amounts of data. Moreover, the complex, multi-tiered nature of the global supply chain introduces additional risks related to data integrity, cybersecurity, and interoperability between systems. As pharmaceutical companies seek to navigate these challenges, innovations in serialization technology—such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and radio frequency identification (RFID)—are providing promising solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce fraud, and increase visibility. This manuscript explores both the innovative advancements and the key challenges associated with the integration of serialization in the pharmaceutical supply chain. It delves into the evolving regulatory landscape, highlighting the need for global harmonization of serialization standards, and examines the impact of serialization on securing pharmaceutical distribution networks. Additionally, the paper emphasizes the importance of collaboration among manufacturers, technology providers, and regulatory bodies in overcoming implementation barriers and realizing the full potential of serialization. Background: Nowadays, integrating online and remote instruction into education presents unique challenges, particularly in nursing education, where combining technology with the core value of caring is essential. Nurse educators must address students’ holistic needs, as their circumstances can influence overall learning development. Objectives: This study aims to ascertain the technological caring competence of nurse educators Methodology: A descriptive design using an adapted tool on technological caring competence for nursing education (TCCNE) Results: A total of 243 Filipino nursing educators participated in this study. Overall, the participants’ perceived level of TCCNE was quite high. This sample representative of nursing educators holds strong perceptions of their TCCNE with the values of being considerate, supportive, and respectful to their students as the highest rated competency. This result implies that the educators keep the essence of what nursing is about as they model the importance of caring even in an academic setting considering that these teachers are using remote instruction. Conclusion: The study opens up a discussion on assessing the TCCNE of nursing education in an academic setting. Thus, its advocacy could start from implementing the research training plan. Further, the nurse educators should strengthen in balancing care with appropriate technology is viewed as a necessary step to maintain the essence of nursing, which is on caring that can be modeled out not just in clinical practice alone, but in nursing education.

Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) serve as the cornerstone of pharmaceutical development, driving therapeutic efficacy and safety in drug formulations. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the lifecycle of APIs, starting from their discovery and development, through to manufacturing processes and regulatory oversight. The development of APIs begins with intensive research and discovery efforts, where medicinal chemists and pharmacologists identify and optimize potential compounds through computational modelling, high-throughput screening, and structure-activity relationship studies. Promising candidates undergo rigorous preclinical testing to assess pharmacological properties, safety profiles, and potential adverse effects in animal models. Upon successful preclinical outcomes, APIs progress to clinical trials, involving phases of testing in human subjects to evaluate efficacy, dosage regimens, and safety profiles under controlled conditions. Clinical trial data are meticulously analyzed to support regulatory submissions, demonstrating the API's therapeutic benefits and safety for eventual patient use. Manufacturing APIs involves complex chemical synthesis or biotechnological methods, ensuring precise control over reaction conditions, purity, and yield. The scale-up from laboratory synthesis to industrial production demands adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), where stringent quality control measures verify consistency, potency, and stability throughout production batches. Regulatory oversight by authorities such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in Europe ensures that APIs meet stringent standards of safety, efficacy, and quality before market approval. Manufacturers must submit comprehensive Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) data, detailing manufacturing processes, analytical methods, and stability studies to support regulatory filings.

Background: Over the past decade, there has been a rapid advancement in technology and virtual reality applications, leading to the emergence of the metaverse - a virtual universe where users interact with each other and their surroundings through immersive experiences. In the nursing profession, the metaverse presents unique opportunities to enhance patient care, education, and collaboration. Aim: To analyze and identify the attributes of metaverse in nursing, exploring its dimensions, benefits, challenges, and implications. By examining relevant literature, this study will contribute to a better understanding of the metaverse in nursing. Method/Design: Concept analysis by Walker and Avant (2019). Results: Metaverse in nursing involves three defining attributes: use of advanced technologies, better access to education and healthcare, and collaboration and community building. Antecedents of metaverse in nursing require technological advancements, increased digital literacy, demand for innovative education, globalization of healthcare education Conclusion: Metaverse in Nursing suggests that it is a promising technology that has the potential to enhance nursing practice and improve patient outcomes, but further research is needed to fully explore the impact of its integration.

Challenges are part and parcel of human activities. Quantitatively, a relational survey model research was adopted for the study. The population for this study comprised all Junior High School (JHS) Religious and Moral Education (RME) students in Bokro M/A JHS and the Eziom Methodist JHS in the Nzema-East Municipality of the Western Region. Purposive and random sampling techniques were used to select the schools and respondents for the study. The main instruments for data collection were a test and a questionnaire. The data from both the control and experimental groups on the challenges learners face in using the flipped classroom model in RME were analysed using means and standard deviations. The study indicates the challenges learners face by employing the flipped classroom model to learn include lack of data to access the internet, frequent light outs, lack of technological devices to access contents, frequent power outages, and difficulty in comprehending some of the materials given to them. Given that learners face frequent power outages during periods that they watch videos assigned to them by their teachers, it is recommended that the government and the Electricity Company of Ghana ensure that there is a constant flow of power to allow learners trying to use the flipped classroom to learn are without any hindrance. It is also recommended that the Ghana education service should organise continuing professional development for RME teachers on effective uses of technology in teaching and learning subject concepts. The government should also supply the basic schools with all the needed technological devices to promote effective teaching, learning and assessment.

What makes this evolution disruptive is that the same tools facilitating accessibility also exert influence on the way market trends unfold. This paper delves into the escalating impact of social media within the financial sphere, emphasizing the heightened accessibility to information and market involvement facilitated by platforms like Twitter and Reddit. It sheds light on how social media plays a pivotal role in market manipulation, as evidenced by phenomena such as the r/wallstreetbets subreddit, where meme-based strategies were employed to inflate the prices of stocks like GameStop. The study explores the utilization of social media by influential figures, exemplified by Elon Musk, who leverage their platforms to sway market movements. Additionally, this paper addresses instances of misinformation, such as the confusion surrounding Virgin Galactic's shares following a SpaceX failure and the introduction of "AGUA" in the Mexican stock market, leading to widespread misunderstandings. The paper extends its examination to the effects of social media on cryptocurrencies, highlighting how comments from public figures can significantly impact the prices of Bitcoin and Dogecoin. Overall, it underscores the imperative need for adaptation to these changes in the digital financial paradigm.

Drawing upon existing literature, this research examines various books and online resources discussing the intersection of artificial intelligence and ERP. The findings reveal that the impact of AI is evident as businesses attain heightened levels of analytical efficiency across different ERP domains, thanks to remarkable advancements in AI, machine learning, and deep learning. Artificial intelligence is extensively employed in numerous ERP areas, with a particular emphasis on customer support, predictive analysis, operational planning, and sales projections.

The pharmaceutical supply chain environment has undergone tremendous change in recent decades due to technology, and this shift is intensifying. One of the main concerns of business practitioners is how to cost-effectively integrate, implement, and manage technologies across the supply chain of an organization. Pharmaceutical organizations that produce, ship, and supply goods have trouble tracking their goods, which makes it easier for counterfeiters to get fake medications into the system. The creation and implementation of a stringent technological system might be a significant step in the arduous battle against the prevalence of fake medications and other healthcare items. In supply chain management, digital technologies have a number of potential advantages. The usage of the Internet of Things in supply chains can make every component visible and create a visible supply chain, making it possible to identify the position and specifications of all the components and materials in the supply chain at any given time.

The purpose of this study was to examine Religious and Moral Eduction teachers’ usage of the flipped classroom model Model and its Influence on JHS Students’ Academic Performance in the Nzema-East Municipality of Ghana.The study adopted the quasi-experimental research design. The population for this study comprised all JHS Religious and Moral Education students and teachers within the Nzema-East Municipality of the Western Region. With the help of the Krejcie and Morgan’s sample determination table, a sample of 110 comprising 10 teachers and 100 students were selected for the study through multi-stage sampling. The instruments used for data collection were tests and questionnaires. The study indicated that, the flipped classroom is a very potent method of teaching RME. This is so because the study provides enough evidence that the flipped classroom significantly improves the performance of learners more than the traditional approaches to teaching. This is even more appropriate in a technological era such as ours. The study also revealed that, teachers have a positive view of the use of the flipped classroom in teaching RME. Junior High School RME teachers are ready to adopt the flipped classroom model in their teaching provided challenges students face are eliminated. It is recommended that, School Improvement Support Officers and Headteachers should ensure that teachers use the flipped classroom to bring variations in lesson delivery so as to improve the academic achievements of learners. It is also recommended that government should provide technological devices to schools and teachers and ensure that teachers employ the various technological devices at their disposal to the benefit of their students.

This study will detail the effects of computer-based graphic design on illustration in poster works. The understanding of art has evolved from ancient times to the present, giving rise to design works. With the development of the internet and computer technologies in the 20th century, the understanding of design has also changed. The impact of computer technology on the drawings in poster works will be highlighted in this study as how they began in the 1950s and 1960s and developed throughout the century. Especially in the 1990s, technological developments offered new technical possibilities to art and artists. The production of computer-aided unique designs and illustrations began. The study's evaluation portion will cover the technical aspects of the illustrations seen in the posters created by well-known historical designers. The examples presented throughout the study cover the effects of computer-based graphic design in the 20th century on the illustration in poster works.
